演活「黃飛鴻」的關德興

1933年在美國參演美國首部粤語有聲電影《歌侶情潮》，戰後開始以「黃飛鴻」的角色，主演了七十多部黃飛鴻系列的功夫電影。

1949年首部黃飛鴻電影《黃飛鴻正傳之鞭風滅燭》公映後，非常受歡迎，接續拍了超過一百部，以主角擔演同一角色及以集數最之多而被列入「世界健力士紀錄」，迄今統計得由關德興主演的共有77部。

「黃飛鴻」片集演譯了中國人的忠、孝、仁、義、悌的理想，成教化，助人倫，而揚名海外。故此，在千千萬萬觀眾的心目中，黃飛鴻為正義的化身，而關德興已等同黃飛鴻之化身！

關德興一生演出了125部電影，最後一部為為1994年的《大富之家》。

Motion Picture – In 1933, Master Kwan starred in his first full feature film “The Lover”, one of the first “Chinese talkie” produced in California for the Hong Kong and Guangdong audiences. His last film was “The happy Family”, made in 1994. In the intervening years, He had acted in over 140 films.

The Wong Fei-Hong Film Phenomenon – The first Wong Fei-Hong film was produced in 1949, and Master Kwan Tak-Hing was the only actor considered to play the hero. Between 1949 to 1997, a total of 103 Wong Fei-Hong films were made; and described in the Guinness Book of Records as the “most durable film series” ever. Of those 103 films, 77 had Master Kwan in the leading role. These films were recognized for having a “real texture” of the martial arts, as Master Kwan required that the essence and ethics of martial arts be respected.

Equally important, Master Kwan could use his immense and innate charisma to promote national pride and to reinforce such Confucian values as righteousness, honesty, and respect for one and other. Chinese audiences the world over loved and respected the Wong Fei-Hong hero, with whom Kwan became synonymous.
